Public Input Requested at Town Commercial Design Event

The Town of Charlestown Planning Commission is embarking on a Commercial and Village Design Standards project to promote good design for new development in commercial areas.

To gain public input, the Commercial and Village Design Standards Advisory Committee is hosting a Town Commercial Design Event at the Charlestown Town Hall on Wednesday, November 8th from 5 to 8 pm in the Council Chambers. All residents and business owners are invited to stop by during this time to share their thoughts on how to shape new commercial development in Charlestown. Members of the Planning Commission and the consultant group will be there with pictures of development ideas from around the region.

At this informal event attendees will be able to rate the best (and worst) designs and post their reactions on “sticky notes”. There will also be survey questions and other activities to get community involvement going forward. The town’s consultants have produced a preliminary background report on the project that can be viewed here. Other project information can also be viewed at: charlestownri.gov/designstandards. The Commercial and Village Design Standards Advisory Committee wants as much feedback as possible and encourages everyone to come to this event and share their thoughts and ideas.

Refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
